Reggae Mourns Fantan Mojah

The reggae community is mourning the reported passing of Jamaican reggae artiste Fantan Mojah, who has died at the age of 49. Reports of his death have prompted an outpouring of tributes from fans, fellow musicians, and members of the wider reggae fraternity.
Born Owen Lennox Moncrieffe in St. Elizabeth, Jamaica, Fantan Mojah built a respected career through conscious reggae music rooted in Rastafarian teachings, spirituality, and social awareness. He rose to prominence in the mid-2000s with his debut album Hail the King, which featured some of his most recognized songs, including Hail the King, Hungry, Corruption, and Nuh Build Great Man.
Over nearly three decades in music, Fantan Mojah earned admiration for delivering uplifting messages and remaining committed to conscious reggae, gaining a loyal following across Jamaica, the Caribbean, Europe, and other international markets.
His passing marks the loss of another influential voice in reggae, with many remembering him for his distinctive vocals, unwavering message, and contribution to preserving the genre’s conscious roots. Tributes continue to pour in as the music world reflects on his legacy.
