Red Howler Monkey Killed Crossing Manzanilla Road

A red howler monkey was killed after it was reportedly struck by a vehicle while crossing a road in Manzanilla on Monday morning.

The incident was brought to public attention through a photograph submitted by a resident, who said the animal had been “casually crossing the road” when it was hit.

Red howler monkeys are native to Trinidad and are protected under local wildlife laws. They are commonly found in forested areas along the island’s east coast, where roads often pass through or border their natural habitat.
