Protests Erupt Again in Santo Domingo Over Police-Related Deaths

The demand for justice in police-involved deaths has once again brought protesters to the streets of Santo Domingo. Two weeks after the death of young Darlyn Mercado, demonstrations have intensified, with crowds calling for answers in several cases involving National Police officers.

Protesters are demanding transparency and accountability, citing a pattern of violence that has eroded public trust. The recent surge follows widespread outrage over Mercado’s death, which remains under investigation.

Authorities have yet to issue formal statements addressing the renewed protests. Meanwhile, demonstrators vow to continue until justice is served in all unresolved cases.
