In a landmark move for Haitian education, 23 students—including eight girls—sat for the country’s first-ever agricultural technology baccalaureate exam in Les Cayes. The exam, part of the Sciences et Technologies de l’Agronomie et du Vivant (STAV) series, was administered at the Lycée technique agricole de Cance (LyTAC) under the Nouveau Secondaire reform. This pilot program aims to modernize Haiti’s secondary education by offering a technical track focused on agronomy and life sciences, addressing the nation’s need for skilled agricultural professionals. Officials hope this initiative will help combat food insecurity and spur rural development. The successful launch sets a precedent for expanding technical education across Haiti.
