Promoters Urge Government to Reconsider Fete Ban

Promoters of events have requested the government to rethink its recent ban on Carnival fetes at three primary locations, cautioning that this decision might trigger large-scale cancellations, substantial financial drawbacks, and disruptions to the Carnival 2026. A formal letter was sent to Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar by the promoters’ association, stating that the immediate prohibition on fetes at the Brian Lara Cricket Academy, the Hasely Crawford Stadium, and the Jean Pierre Complex has caused ‘serious uncertainty and hardship’ for various stakeholders in the entertainment and cultural sectors.
