South Trinidad is reeling from another violent incident involving a well-known family. Prominent businessman Steve Ghany Jr. was fatally shot in his Vistabella home on the morning of April 8, 2026. Reports suggest that the incident stemmed from a domestic altercation. His wife has been detained and currently remains in police custody.
This tragic event has sent shockwaves through the community, particularly given the Ghany family’s recent history of violence. The echoes of a December 2024 tragedy still linger in the minds of many, when Ghany’s mother, Monica, was shot dead in San Fernando. In the same incident, Ghany’s brother, Matthew, was also shot and wounded.
The recent developments have amplified concerns among residents about the escalating violence in the area, especially its impact on families already scarred by previous tragedies. The community is anxiously awaiting answers as detectives continue their investigations.
While the police haven’t yet established a motive for this latest act of violence, their investigations are ongoing. The community hopes for swift justice and a break in the cycle of violence that has recently plagued this family.
