Prime Minister Gaston Browne Vows Continued Infrastructure Development Post-Election

Prime Minister Gaston Browne has announced plans for continued infrastructure development in Antigua and Barbuda contingent upon his party’s success in the upcoming general elections. Speaking at a recent event, Browne emphasized that the ongoing road works and other public service enhancements are part of a long-term strategy and not merely election-driven efforts. The Antigua and Barbuda Labour Party leader underscored the importance of infrastructure in the nation’s development and assured residents of sustained efforts, especially in road construction, after the elections scheduled for April 30th.

In his address, Browne reasserted his administration’s dedication to improving public services, highlighting the significant strides made in areas such as potable water, tourism, housing, and healthcare. He described the current infrastructure projects as a reflection of the government’s commitment to ensuring the nation’s progress. Browne also addressed concerns regarding employment, stating that local labor would predominantly be used for these developments, thereby boosting job creation within the country.

Browne’s statements come as part of his broader vision for national growth, which he terms a “renaissance” for Antigua and Barbuda. He pointed out that road construction is already underway across various constituencies, and emphasized that these efforts are backed by adequate funding and resources. He acknowledged minor manpower challenges but assured that additional local recruits are being trained to expedite projects.

Moreover, Browne briefly touched on issues within his constituency, St. John’s City West, where recent upgrades have seen improvements in water quality following the replacement of aged pipes. He noted that while residents eagerly await the completion of road paving, such projects would be tackled soon after the elections to ensure uninterrupted progress.

With general elections nearing, the political climate in Antigua and Barbuda remains charged, with Browne and the Antigua Barbuda Labour Party engaging actively in campaign activities. The Prime Minister has urged voters to recognize the development achievements accomplished under his leadership and to continue supporting initiatives aimed at fostering sustainable economic growth.
