Prime Minister Accuses TPRC of Halting Eddie Hart Police Post Construction

Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar has accused representatives of the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation (TPRC) of stopping construction of a new police post at the Eddie Hart Grounds in Tunapuna.
In a statement, the Prime Minister alleged that TPRC representatives, accompanied by a municipal police officer, went to the site and instructed workers to cease construction. She described the alleged action as “wicked” and accused those involved of putting politics ahead of public safety.
Persad-Bissessar further claimed that the move demonstrated opposition to the establishment of a police post in the area, arguing that the community would benefit from a stronger law enforcement presence. She also alleged that the People’s National Movement (PNM) was acting against the interests of Tunapuna residents and made claims linking the party’s actions to criminal elements.
At the time of publication, the PNM and the Tunapuna/Piarco Regional Corporation had not publicly responded to the Prime Minister’s allegations. The reasons for the reported stoppage and the legal status of the construction project have not been independently verified.
