Man and Woman Charged with Murder of Young Woman in Chaguanas Stabbing

A man and a woman have been formally charged with the murder of 25-year-old Shayana Ruiz following a fatal stabbing incident on July 29. The charges have been laid by senior police officials, and the accused individuals are expected to face court proceedings soon.

Ruiz, a resident of Quarry Road, Diego Martin, had reportedly gone to a residence in Edinburgh 500, Chaguanas, to collect a debt of $4,500 from her former boyfriend. During her visit, a heated argument allegedly broke out, leading to a violent confrontation.

According to police reports, Ruiz was brutally attacked, suffering multiple stab wounds to her back, head, face, chest, and hand. Authorities claim that the attack occurred in the presence of a relative who had accompanied her to the location.

After the incident, the former boyfriend and a woman allegedly fled the scene. They were apprehended by police a few hours later and have been charged with murder. Ruiz’s family members have expressed relief at the charges, as they seek justice for their loved one. The case is now in the hands of the judicial system.
