Port of Spain Prison Baptises 24 Inmates in Faith-Based Rehabilitation Initiative

In an inspiring event at the Port of Spain Prison, 24 inmates participated in a baptismal ceremony on Tuesday, July 28, 2026. The event was a part of an ongoing initiative by the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service to foster spiritual growth and positive change among inmates.

Pastor Wilma Kelly, along with members of the Way of Holiness Ministries, conducted the ceremony. The service began with praise and worship, led by the inmates themselves, setting a tone of reflection and devotion. A highlight of the ceremony was a testimony from an inmate who had previously undergone baptism, encouraging fellow inmates to remain steadfast in their faith.

The baptisms included eight convicted prisoners and 16 remanded inmates. Pastor Kelly led the congregation in prayer before carrying out the baptisms, emphasizing the transformative power of faith and community support in their lives.

This initiative is part of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service’s broader efforts to provide spiritual guidance and instill hope among inmates. The program aims to promote personal growth and encourage inmates to support each other in their spiritual journeys, reflecting a commitment to rehabilitation and positive change within the prison environment.
