Kirk Seetahal is calling for greater awareness about how children are presented and treated in society, urging adults to help protect their confidence, dignity and wellbeing.
In a recent video, Seetahal reflects on experiences that prompted him to speak out, including observations at a children’s carnival event. He argues that young children should be allowed to enjoy their childhood free from pressures that encourage age-inappropriate behaviour or unrealistic expectations.
Seetahal encourages parents, guardians and the wider community to consider the messages children receive about self-worth, respect and identity, stressing that adults have a responsibility to create environments that support healthy development and preserve the innocence of childhood.
