PM says gov’t moves to plug revenue leaks and fiscal discipline

Solomon Islands Government Takes Steps to Strengthen Fiscal Discipline

Prime Minister Matthew Wale has announced that the government has initiated measures to strengthen fiscal discipline and address long-standing revenue leaks in public finances. In his closing remarks following the Speech from the Throne, Prime Minister Wale stated that the government is actively working to close gaps that have resulted in revenue losses through discretionary tax exemptions.

According to Prime Minister Wale, these gaps have allowed revenue to “quietly haemorrhage”, and the government’s efforts aim to plug these leaks and restore fiscal discipline. The move is part of the government’s efforts to improve its financial management and ensure that public finances are utilized effectively.
