Parents of students at El Socorro South Government Primary School have voiced their concern over a rat infestation that has been ignored since October last year. They believe the source of the problem to be an overgrown, vacant lot adjacent to the school. The Ministry of Education has acknowledged these complaints and assured that evaluation and necessary steps to address the issue are underway. They are working with the school staff and the National Maintenance Training and Security Company Ltd (MTS) to assess the conditions at the facility. The Ministry has also confirmed that preventative baiting and sanitation exercises have been carried out by the Regional Corporation and further mitigation measures are ongoing.
