On September 20, 2026, the Charlottetown Gaudet’s Auto Body Islanders clinched their fourth New Brunswick Senior Baseball League (NBSBL) championship in a row with a 6‑2 road victory over the Chatham Ironmen in Miramichi, New Brunswick.
The Islanders’ win marked the team’s fifth championship in six years, underscoring a dynasty that has dominated the league since 2023. General manager and pitcher Jake Beck said the program’s success is the result of sustained effort and a focus on quality play.
“We’ve been building this program for a long time,” Beck said. “There are tons of people that are dedicated to what we have and what we’re trying to accomplish every year. For a lot of teams, it’s easy to take your foot off the gas when you reach those pinnacles, but this team is always focused on the ultimate goal.”
Islanders shortstop Dylan Worth, 23, highlighted the team’s future ambitions. “That’s the goal, so winning these playoffs is huge for us,” Worth said. “I’d like to help keep going with the team in the future, helping us go to nationals every year.”
Coach Doug Hines noted the youthful core that played in most of the championship series. “Eight of the nine Islanders playing in the field defensively were under 30, including five who were 25 or younger,” Hines said. “It’s hard to imagine when you see those numbers.”
The Islanders’ playoff record is impressive. They have won 19 of their last 20 NBSBL playoff games, including a 17‑game playoff winning streak that began in the 2023 final against the Moncton Mets. The team’s recent playoff victories include a 4‑1 series win over the Chatham Ironmen in 2026 and a 4‑0 series win over the Fredericton Royals in 2024.
Beyond the league, the Islanders have achieved national success. They earned a bronze medal at the Canadian senior championship in 2022 and became the first Prince Edward Island team to win a Baseball Canada‑sanctioned national championship in 2025, taking home the gold medal.
Following the 2026 NBSBL championship, the Islanders will represent New Brunswick at the 2027 Canadian senior men’s championship tournament in Edmonton.
Islanders players balance baseball with full‑time jobs, businesses, and family responsibilities. Volunteers also play a crucial role behind the scenes, contributing to the team’s overall success.
Community support has been strong, with a notable turnout at Memorial Field in Charlottetown on September 19 for Game 4 of the finals. Fans braved cold weather to cheer the Islanders, reflecting the team’s deep connection to the local baseball community.
