OWTU leader Ancel Roget has initiated legal action against ex-Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley, citing defamation. Roget alleges that Rowley made damaging statements regarding the union’s involvement in the August 2022 protest that blocked the Solomon Hochoy Highway. In a recent gathering, Roget condemned the previous PNM administration’s decision to close Petrotrin, dubbing it a significant economic blow. He accused the government of years-long union demonization and rallied the OWTU’s supporters to prevent PNM’s return to power. The gathering was attended by government MPs Ernesto Kesar and Clyde Elder, both ex-union officials.
