Opposition Leader Attends Tobago House Assembly Inauguration

The Hon. Penelope Beckles, the Opposition Leader, attended the official swearing-in ceremony for the 13th Tobago House of Assembly, marking a new chapter for Tobago’s legislative body. The ceremony was under the authority of Christine Kangaloo, President of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago. Beckles extended congratulations to the members of the newly formed Assembly and wished the people of Tobago well as they enter a new phase of governance. Farley Augustine was sworn in as Chief Secretary of the Tobago House of Assembly, and Dr. Faith Brebnor was elected and sworn in as Deputy Chief Secretary. Beckles expressed hope that the 13th Assembly would prioritize service, accountability, transparency, and the interests of Tobagonians.
