Operation RESOLUTE: Firearms, Ammunition, and Cannabis Seized in Extensive Weekend Police Sweep

During an extensive weekend operation known as Operation RESOLUTE, law enforcement officers seized three firearms along with quantities of ammunition and cannabis. The operation took place across various divisions, including Central, Northern North, North Central, and South Western, and was aimed at tackling illegal activities.

In the Central Division, a coordinated effort by the Task Force and the Caroni Police Station led to the discovery of a 12-gauge shotgun concealed in a blue bag near a riverbank in Kelly Village. Meanwhile, in the North Central Division, officers found a pound of cannabis in a bushy area on Pasea Street.

On Saturday, the Northern North Division conducted exercises in Arima, where a man was spotted holding what appeared to be a firearm. Although the suspect managed to escape, officers recovered a pistol loaded with 10 rounds of ammunition after searching the area.

In the South Western Division, a revolver was found in the vicinity of an apartment building in Cap-de-Ville. These operations were spearheaded by senior officers, including Snr. Supt. Gift and ASP Pierre.

The successful seizures highlight the efficacy of Operation RESOLUTE, which involved collaboration between various police departments, including the Criminal Investigations Department and the Canine Unit. Investigations into these cases are ongoing, with authorities determined to clamp down on illegal arms and narcotics in the region.
