Hong Kong is seeing a shift in its hospitality sector as the city aims to establish itself as a global education hub. This transition has led to the conversion of hotel properties into student accommodation, reflecting changing market demands.
An open tender for the Hotel Cozi Harbour View in Kwun Tong was announced late last month, with a submission deadline set for October 15. The 598-room property, situated in the eastern Kowloon Peninsula, was acquired by Nanyang Commercial Bank for HK$1.87 billion (US$238.4 million) in 2025. The bank is currently seeking to sell the asset to the highest bidder.
In a separate development, Nina Hospitality, one of the city’s major hotel operators, recently announced the completion of a HK$120 million (US$15.3 million) renovation project at the Nina Hotel Island South. The refurbishment included updates to the lobby and guestrooms, alongside the introduction of new balcony suites and family rooms.
