Trinidad-based artist NFN Josh has opened up about his decision to drop out of school in Form Three, while attending Mt Hope Secondary School, to fully dedicate himself to his music and business ambitions. At just 20 years old, Josh shared his story during an interview on the Talks with KG Podcast, revealing that his passion for music was evident even during his school years. Influenced by rap icons like Lil Wayne, Drake, and Chris Brown, he felt a strong pull towards the music industry.
Josh explained that he found the traditional school path did not align with his aspirations. This realization led him to leave school early and dive into the world of entrepreneurship. Post-school, he began to explore various business avenues, including cryptocurrency, while continuing to build his music career.
In his pursuit of music, Josh took a hands-on approach, funding his early recording setup by selling personal items, including gaming consoles. With the proceeds, he purchased essential equipment like a microphone and laptop, allowing him to start recording music independently.
His journey illustrates a self-driven attitude, where he balances the dual demands of establishing himself in the music industry while navigating the complexities of business. Josh’s story serves as an inspiration for young artists contemplating the intersection of education and career pursuits.
