The Municipality of Huron East is set to receive $14,375 in provincial funding for the Huron East Job and Volunteer Fair. The funding is part of the Rural Ontario Development program, which aims to support rural communities in Ontario.

According to Lisa Thompson, MPP for Huron-Bruce, “Rural communities are the backbone of Ontario’s economy, and our government is committed to ensuring they have the tools and resources needed to grow, attract investment and create new opportunities.”

The funding is part of a larger investment in the Huron-Bruce area, with a total of $94,534.81 announced on August 4. Nearby municipalities, including South Bruce, Brockton, and the Township of Howick, have also received funding for various projects, including infrastructure renewal, community improvement, and business attraction marketing.

Thompson stated, “We are supporting locally driven projects that strengthen community capacity, enhance economic development and help build a strong future for families, workers and businesses across Huron-Bruce. These investments reflect our government’s ongoing commitment to working alongside rural communities to unlock their potential and ensure they continue to thrive.”

The provincial government has invested a total of $5.5 million into 116 projects across rural Ontario, as part of a $20 million investment to strengthen local governments, communities, and organizations.
