34-year-old mother of three, Salisha Ali, originally from Trinidad, was tragically found murdered. Last contact with Ali was made in July 2025 during a video call with her relatives in Trinidad. After this, her family could not reach her and reported her missing. In September 2025, her torso was discovered in a marshy area of Idlewild Park near JFK Airport, and her head was found in March 2026 by sanitation workers in Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Later, the police discovered additional body parts. The suspect, a 75-year-old Trinidadian man, was detained and formally charged with murder, obstructing governmental administration, and two counts of tampering with physical evidence. Ali’s identity was confirmed through her unique tattoos and DNA testing. Ali had travelled to the United States in search of a better life and reportedly met the suspect in Trinidad before relocating to be with him. When she stopped responding, her family contacted the Trinidad and Tobago Consular Office in New York.
