A homicide investigation has been launched by the police following the discovery of a man’s charred body on agricultural land in Couva on Tuesday morning. The body was found when a man and his companion visited the property with a real estate agent. The victim was found lying on his back, his hands were tied behind his back, and it appeared that his body was intentionally set on fire. Officers from the Couva Police Station responded and secured the scene. The District Medical Officer ordered the body to be taken to the Forensic Science Centre for a post-mortem examination to ascertain the cause of death. Crime scene investigators recovered three spent 9mm shell casings at the scene. The police are appealing to the public for help in identifying the victim.
