Relatives of 16-year-old Tenisha Jerome are appealing to the public for help in finding the missing Cunupia teenager.
Tenisha, a Form Three student of Cunupia High Secondary School, was last seen around 7:45 a.m. on Friday at her home at Fernando Lane, Esmeralda Road, before leaving for school. She is of mixed descent, slim-built, approximately 5 feet 5 inches tall, dark brown in complexion, and has long black hair.
At the time of her disappearance, she was wearing long jeans, a black short-sleeved T-shirt, and brown slippers.
Her uncle and guardian, 42-year-old Terrence Jerome, said Tenisha has lived with him and her 71-year-old grandmother since she was two years old, following her parents’ separation. Her father, a welder, resides and works in South Trinidad.
Describing her as a naturally joyful and occasionally “a little bit too friendly” child, Jerome said worry has been mounting as three days have passed with no word on her whereabouts. He explained that each morning, Tenisha typically takes a ten-minute walk to school with other children from the neighbourhood.
“I leave for work at 9 a.m. We wake her at 6 a.m. so she can get ready. She likes doing her hair every day. That morning was no different, and we later received information that she did arrive at school,” he said.
Authorities and relatives are urging anyone with information on Tenisha’s location to come forward.
