Marvin Gonzales Burns Court Order at PNM Meeting, Accuses UNC of Weaponising Judiciary

PNM Chairman Marvin Gonzales made a dramatic statement during the People’s National Movement’s public meeting on Thursday night, setting fire to what he said was a court order while defending the party’s Balisier House headquarters.

Addressing supporters from the stage, Gonzales held the burning document aloft as he accused the United National Congress (UNC) of using the courts and legal system to wage a political campaign against the PNM. The symbolic act came as Gonzales spoke about the legal proceedings involving Balisier House, describing the court action as an attack on the party.

He insisted that the PNM would not be intimidated and pledged that the party would continue to defend its headquarters and its supporters. The fiery display quickly drew attention from those in attendance and on social media, with reactions split between those who viewed the act as a bold political statement and those who questioned the decision to burn what was presented as a court order.

The demonstration took place amid ongoing legal proceedings concerning Balisier House, an issue that has become a major point of contention between the Government and the Opposition. The incident is expected to add further fuel to an already tense political climate as legal and political battles between the country’s two major parties continue.
