Manning Calls Alibocus ‘Delusional’ Amid San Fernando East Political Battle

San Fernando East MP Brian Manning has fired back at UNC shadow MP John Michael Alibocus, calling him ‘delusional’ after Alibocus commented on the ongoing turmoil within the PNM’s San Fernando East constituency. Alibocus has sought to capitalize politically on the internal dispute, arguing that the situation reinforces concerns he has previously raised about Manning’s representation of the constituency.

Speaking as tensions continue within the PNM constituency organization, Alibocus said he remains prepared to serve the people of San Fernando East and maintained that his work in the constituency has continued despite his narrow defeat in the 2025 general election. Alibocus came within 673 votes of unseating Manning, making San Fernando East one of the closely watched constituencies coming out of that election.

His latest comments, however, drew a short but pointed response from Manning. Commenting beneath a CNC3 Television Facebook post highlighting Alibocus’ statements, Manning wrote: ‘This guy is so delusional.’ The exchange adds another dimension to the political situation in San Fernando East, where the PNM has been dealing with an increasingly public internal dispute involving Manning and members of the constituency executive.

While Alibocus is positioning himself as an alternative representative for the constituency, Manning remains the elected Member of Parliament and has given no indication that he intends to vacate the seat. With the internal PNM dispute continuing and the UNC closely watching developments, the latest exchange suggests the battle for San Fernando East is increasingly moving beyond internal party disagreements and back into direct political rivalry.
