**Rishabh Pant becomes India’s highest run‑scorer in ICC World Test Championship**

Indian wicket‑keeper and batter Rishabh Pant surpassed captain Shubman Gill to become the most prolific run‑scorer for India in the ICC World Test Championship (WTC). The milestone was reached during the second Test against Sri Lanka at the Sinhalese Sports Club Ground in Colombo.

Pant scored 63 runs before being dismissed by Keshara Nuwantha on the first ball of the second session. His total of 2,948 runs in 42 WTC Tests overtook Gill’s 2,917 runs from the same number of matches. Former Indian captain Rohit Sharma is third on the list with 2,716 runs from 40 WTC Tests, followed by all‑rounder Ravindra Jadeja (2,675 from 50) and former captain Virat Kohli (2,617 from 46). Among current Indian players, Yashasvi Jaiswal is next with 2,588 runs from 30 WTC Tests.

Pant also surpassed former wicket‑keeper MS Dhoni to become India’s highest run‑scorer as a designated wicket‑keeper in away or neutral Tests. He crossed the 2,500‑run threshold in this category, edging past Dhoni’s 2,496 runs, and does so at an average of nearly 42 compared with Dhoni’s 32.84.

India’s innings in the match ended at 475/8 before rain forced an early close to the second session on Day 2. Dhruv Jurel remained unbeaten on 95, just five runs short of his maiden Test century, while Mohammed Siraj was at the other end.
