A peaceful evening at Salybia Beach in Toco turned into a crime scene on Monday when a 36-year-old man was robbed at gunpoint. The victim, a self-employed resident of Sangre Grande, was enjoying time with friends when an unknown assailant approached him. This incident occurred around 7:30 p.m. on April 6, 2026, disrupting the otherwise serene setting.
The assailant, brandishing a firearm, announced a robbery before relieving the victim of a Cuban link gold chain with a Jesus pendant. He then made a quick escape on foot, disappearing into the night.
The victim promptly reported the incident to the Toco Police Station, where he received immediate attention. Officers accompanied him back to the beach, where he aided in identifying areas relevant to the investigation.
Despite the police conducting extensive searches in and around Salybia Beach, the suspect remains at large. Investigations into the robbery are ongoing, with the authorities urging anyone with information to come forward.
