**Luxair to Discuss Potential Direct Flight to the United States with United Airlines**
*Luxembourg –* Luxembourg’s flag carrier, Luxair, announced that its chief executive, Gilles Feith, will enter negotiations with United Airlines to explore the feasibility of a direct service between Luxembourg’s Findel Airport and Newark Liberty International Airport in the United States.
Feith indicated that the discussions will focus on possible cooperation arrangements that could enable a nonstop connection between the two airports. The talks are intended to assess operational, commercial and regulatory considerations, with no commitment made at this stage.
A direct Luxembourg‑Newark route would add to Luxair’s existing network of European destinations and could provide United Airlines with an additional European gateway. Both airlines have not disclosed a timeline for any potential agreement, and any decision will depend on the outcome of the forthcoming negotiations.
Luxair, which primarily operates short‑ and medium‑haul flights within Europe, has been seeking opportunities to expand its long‑haul offerings. United Airlines, one of the United States’ largest carriers, operates a broad transatlantic network that includes multiple flights to and from Newark.
