Lielvārde/Unihoc secured its first victory of the season by defeating FBK Valmiera 2–1 in a men’s match of the ELVI football league.
The game was played at the Valmiera Olympic Center, where both teams had not yet earned any points in the current season.
In the first period, the visiting side was more active, but the score remained unchanged. At the 34th minute, Lielvārde/Unihoc’s Edvards Gustavs Rašmanis scored a precise goal, giving his team a 1–0 lead.
Only a few minutes later, Valmiera’s Markusa Strazdiņa‑Stradiņa equalised, making the score 1–1 and ending the second quarter with a tie.
The final period saw a tight contest, with both teams’ goalkeepers performing well. At the 55th minute, a ball from Lielvārde/Unihoc’s offense was deflected into the home side’s net, resulting in a 2–1 lead for the visitors. The goal was recorded as an own goal, with the most active player at the time in Valmiera’s net being Frīdrihs Feldmanis.
Valmiera attempted to recover in the remaining time, but their shots consistently found the visitor’s goal.
Valters Volkovs received the best player award for the match, while Lielvārde/Unihoc’s goalkeeper Eriks Zaics was named best goalkeeper, having saved 13 of 14 shots from the opposition. Among Valmiera players, goalkeeper David Daniel Kalniņš was acknowledged for stopping 20 shots from Lielvārde/Unihoc.
After the win, Lielvārde/Unihoc moved up to seventh place in the tournament standings, while FBK Valmiera remained in eighth place without points.
