Businessman Oneal Wilson has shared his experience of resolving outstanding traffic tickets, encouraging other motorists in Jamaica to take advantage of the ongoing Kingston and St Andrew Traffic Ticket Public Days. Wilson recently settled 80 of his 92 traffic tickets, which totaled $439,000, after 12 of the tickets were pardoned.
He expressed his relief at being able to drive without fear of legal repercussions, stating, “Right now mi a free man, so mi can drive and nuh ‘fraid fi give police mi licence and work with the Road Traffic Act.” Wilson’s message to fellow drivers is to follow his example and take steps to clear their own outstanding tickets, saying, “Do weh’ me do and free up unnu self.”
The Traffic Ticket Public Days initiative is designed to assist motorists in resolving their traffic violations and will continue until July 9, 2026. The events are held at the National Arena, where registered participants can attend with scheduled appointments to address their traffic tickets.
This initiative aims to promote compliance with traffic regulations and reduce the number of outstanding violations among drivers in the region. By participating in these public days, motorists can potentially alleviate their legal burdens and contribute to safer driving conditions in Jamaica.
Wilson’s experience highlights the importance of addressing traffic violations promptly and encourages others to take similar actions to avoid complications in the future.
