Ian Pollard transferred to Connecticut for further specialised cardiac care

Tobago House of Assembly Secretary Ian Pollard, the elected representative for Mason Hall North/Moriah, has been transferred to Connecticut in the United States for further specialised cardiac care.

Pollard, who serves as Secretary of the Division of Community Development and Social Protection, is a longstanding member of the THA and was returned to the Assembly following the January 2026 THA election. ([Tobago House of Assembly][1])

The Tobago House of Assembly provided an update on his health on Sunday, September 20, confirming that the decision to transfer him overseas followed continued assessment and treatment in Trinidad and Tobago.

According to the THA, Pollard’s medical team, led by Dr Ravi Ramlal, advised that he be transferred to Connecticut, where he will receive further specialised cardiac care from medical professionals who have previously treated him and are familiar with his medical history.

Pollard departed Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, September 19. Before his departure, Tobago Chief Secretary Farley Augustine met with him and members of his family.

During that interaction, Pollard personally expressed his gratitude to the people of Tobago for what the THA described as a tremendous outpouring of prayers, encouragement and support.

The Tobago Regional Health Authority also made the necessary arrangements to support Pollard’s continued medical treatment overseas.

The THA acknowledged the considerable public interest surrounding the Secretary’s condition and said it remains committed to keeping the people of Tobago appropriately informed. However, the Assembly has asked that Pollard and his family be afforded the necessary privacy while he continues treatment.

Augustine, on behalf of the Executive Council and the people of Tobago, extended continued best wishes to Pollard and his family and joined him in thanking the public for the warmth, concern and prayers extended to him.
