Gutierrez extended the lead in the 57th minute, finishing a counter-attack initiated by Ibrahim Maza. The win moves Bayer Leverkusen to seven points, placing them fifth in the league standings, five points behind leaders Borussia Dortmund and three points behind defending champions Bayern Munich.
RB Leipzig continues a challenging start to the season, having recorded two wins and two losses in the league, alongside a 4-1 defeat to Italy’s Como in the Champions League.
In other Sunday fixtures, Schalke played to a 0-0 draw against Elversberg, bringing Schalke to five points. Meanwhile, Paderborn earned their first win of the season by defeating Hoffenheim 3-1. Santiago Castaneda, Stefano Marino, and Steven Skrzybski scored for Paderborn, while Adam Daghim provided the lone goal for Hoffenheim.
Following the conclusion of the fourth round, Borussia Dortmund leads the table with 12 points, followed by Bayern Munich and Freiburg, both with 10 points.
