Hrvat ima minutažu ‘na kapaljku’, ali već u prvom nastupu je postao igrač utakmice!

Porto secured a 1‑0 victory over Académico Viseu in the quarter‑final of the Portuguese League Cup, advancing to the semi‑finals. The only goal of the match was scored by Mexican striker Santiago Giménez in the 45th minute. The win was a hard‑fought affair for the Porto side, who faced a strong Académico Viseu side that finished sixth in the Primeira Liga. Despite the pressure, Porto’s defense held firm, and the team’s performance was highlighted by the contributions of Croatian defender Dominik Prpić. Prpić, who joined Porto from Hajduk Split in the summer of 2025, made his first appearance of the season in this match. The 22‑year‑old played the full 90 minutes and was named man of the match. His statistics were impressive: he won six of seven duels, completed all five of his passes, made five clearances, won four tackles, and blocked two shots. He operated as the left full‑back in a 3‑4‑2‑1 formation. Porto manager Francesco Farioli praised Prpić after the game: “Prpić was good, he always trains hard and played a quality game, with a great defensive moment at the very end. I am satisfied.” Since joining Porto, Prpić has made 11 appearances in competitive matches. Farioli has generally preferred Polish full‑backs Jan Bednarek and Jakub Kiwior, with Argentine midfielder Nehuen Pérez often used as a substitute, which has limited Prpić’s minutes. Nevertheless, the defender’s performance in the League Cup quarter‑final demonstrates his potential value to the club. Porto’s season has been strong, with the team winning the Primeira Liga last year with 88 points from 34 matches. In the current season, the club has remained unbeaten in the league, winning all nine matches played so far.
