Guyana: Victoria Village Residents Reported Missing Off Unity Beach

Two residents of Victoria Village have been reported missing after they disappeared in the Atlantic Ocean off Unity Beach on Sunday afternoon, according to local police. The individuals, whose identities have not been disclosed, were last seen engaging in recreational activities near the shoreline.

Eyewitnesses reported that they were in the water when they were swept away by strong currents. Emergency services were alerted shortly after the individuals went missing, and search operations were initiated. The police, along with local volunteers, have been conducting searches in the area to locate the missing residents.

The search efforts have included both aerial and marine units, as well as ground teams combing the beach and surrounding areas. Authorities have urged the public to exercise caution when swimming in the ocean, particularly in areas known for strong currents.

The community of Victoria Village is reportedly in shock over the incident, and local leaders have expressed their condolences to the families of the missing individuals. As of now, the search is ongoing, and police have not provided further details regarding the circumstances surrounding the disappearance.

Residents are encouraged to stay informed about safety measures when engaging in water activities, especially in unpredictable conditions. The local authorities continue to monitor the situation closely and are committed to providing updates as they become available.
