Two men were shot dead on Wednesday night at a shop located in Vigilance South, East Coast Demerara, according to a statement from the Guyana Police Force. The police have reported that no arrests have been made as investigations continue.
Initial investigations indicate that the victims were part of a gathering at the shop when two males, dressed in black and riding a motorcycle, approached them. The suspects allegedly discharged several rounds in the direction of the group.
The deceased individuals have been identified as 22-year-old Cordel August, a wash bay attendant from Strathspey, and 35-year-old Eon Headley, who was self-employed and resided in Vigilance South. Both men sustained suspected gunshot wounds.
Following the incident, they were transported to the Enmore Regional Hospital by members of the public who assisted. Unfortunately, they were pronounced dead on arrival by the medical staff on duty.
Upon examination, the bodies showed signs of suspected gunshot wounds. Subsequently, they were taken to Memorial Gardens Funeral Home, where they are currently awaiting post-mortem examinations.
The police have urged anyone with information regarding the incident to come forward as they continue their investigation into the shooting.
