The TotalEnergies-QatarEnergy-PETRONAS consortium has commenced a seismic survey in the S4 Block, located offshore Guyana. This initiative follows the signing of a Production Sharing Agreement (PSA) with the Guyana Government just over six months ago. The survey is part of the consortium’s efforts to explore the potential of the awarded shallow-water block.
Natural Resources Minister Vickram Bharrat confirmed the start of the seismic survey and expressed satisfaction with the progress made by the consortium. The vessel conducting the survey is expected to remain in the area to facilitate the government’s 3D seismic survey, which aims to gather detailed geological data.
This development is part of Guyana’s broader strategy to enhance its oil and gas sector, which has seen significant interest from international energy companies in recent years. The results of the seismic survey could provide valuable insights into the region’s hydrocarbon resources, potentially influencing future exploration and production activities.
The consortium’s engagement in this survey marks a significant step in the ongoing collaboration between the Guyana Government and foreign energy firms in the pursuit of developing the country’s offshore oil and gas reserves. The collaboration is expected to contribute to the growth of the local economy and create opportunities for local businesses in the energy sector.
As the survey progresses, stakeholders will be monitoring the outcomes closely, as they may have implications for future investments and partnerships in Guyana’s energy landscape.
