West Indies Women Fall to Ireland in Edge-of-Seat DLS Cliffhanger at Clontarf By|Delwin Neblett | HGP Nightly News Sports Desk | DUBLIN, IRELAND — The West Indies Senior Women’s team suffered a heartbreaking setback in their international build-up to the ICC Women’s T20 World Cup, falling to hosts Ireland by a solitary run via the Duckworth-Lewis-Stern (DLS) method. The rain-shortened thriller took place during the 2026 Evara Women’s T20 International Tri-Series at the Clontarf Cricket Club in Dublin on Monday. After winning the toss and electing to bat, the “Men in Maroon” posted a competitive total of 141 for 8 from their 20 overs. The innings was anchored by a resilient 36-run contribution from middle-order batter Jannillea Glasgow. Ireland’s bowling attack maintained pressure through Ava Canning and eventual Player of the Match Orla Prendergast, who both picked up two wickets apiece. In response, Ireland’s chase was powered by an outstanding, unbeaten 71 from Prendergast. The hosts reached 99 for 5 after 14.1 overs before a sudden, heavy downpour permanently stopped play. When the match officials calculated the par score under the shifting DLS table, Ireland was found to be exactly one run ahead of the required rate, handing them a narrow, historic victory. The West Indies Women must regroup quickly to face Pakistan on Wednesday in their final tri-series encounter before heading into official World Cup warm-ups. The Queen’s Sharks batted first but struggled to find momentum against a disciplined bowling attack, finishing their 20 overs at a modest 131 for 9. Sharks Captain Keron Sewnarine top-scored with 31, but it was West Indies regional player Kevin Sinclair who completely dismantled the batting order, returning spectacular figures of 3 for 9 from his four overs. The Raptors made short work of the chase, racing to 132 for 6 in just 15.5 overs to lift the title with a commanding four-wicket victory. Sinclair again showed his class by leading the chase with a top score of 35, while Randall Wilson anchored the backend with an unbeaten 25 to close out the tournament in style.
