Governor Jaffar Khan Mandokhel of Balochistan urged elected representatives to raise public issues effectively before relevant departments and institutions, and to conduct follow‑up visits to ensure sustainable solutions, rather than limiting concerns to complaints and assurances.
The remarks were made during a meeting at the Governor House in Quetta on Thursday, where delegations led by Provincial Minister Mir Asim Kurd Gelu and Member of the Provincial Assembly Zarq Khan Mandokhel were present.
Governor Mandokhel outlined a range of problems affecting Quetta city and its suburbs, including rising street crime, inadequate basic facilities, and general difficulties faced by citizens.
He noted that Quetta is a rapidly expanding city, and the increase in urban population has amplified administrative challenges related to traffic, cleanliness, health, education, water supply, drainage, and street crime.
The governor stressed the need for coordinated and active communication among all relevant institutions to ensure that citizens do not encounter unnecessary obstacles when seeking solutions to their problems.
He called on the government, administration, police, and public representatives to work together to provide a better environment and essential services for residents.
Governor Mandokhel said that steps are being taken to address the issues and difficulties faced by people in Quetta and its suburbs on a priority basis.
He urged the relevant institutions to fulfill their responsibilities more effectively, covering areas such as road maintenance, health and sanitation, drainage, electricity, water supply, and other public services.
Concrete measures are being implemented to curb the rise in street crime, protect citizens’ lives and property, and improve police performance in line with modern requirements, the governor added. He also emphasized the importance of fostering a sense of security among the populace.
