Former FIFA Vice-President Jack Warner Slams US World Cup Hosting for Lack of Inclusivity

Jack Warner did not hold back on his frustrations regarding the ongoing World Cup being co-hosted by Canada, the USA, and Mexico. Warner, speaking at a celebratory dinner for the T&T Red Force Championship team, raised concerns about the US’s stringent immigration policies, stating that it poses a significant barrier for fans and officials wishing to engage in the event.

Warner emphasized that football is meant to be an inclusive sport, and he finds it unacceptable that those wanting to participate or even attend matches face such hurdles in entering the country. “You can’t tell me that football is supposed to be inclusive, and in the U.S., you can’t get a visitor to go in,” he remarked. Despite his criticisms, Warner wishes the teams well, while making bold predictions about the tournament.

As the World Cup progresses, his statements bring to light ongoing discussions about accessibility in sports on an international stage and how these barriers can detract from the spirit of the game.
