In a tragic incident that has left the St. James community in shock, 25-year-old Joseph Sutton and his 11-month-old son, Jayden, were killed in an overnight shooting on Tuesday, March 31, 2026. The victims were asleep at home when an unidentified gunman reportedly pushed a firearm through a bedroom window and opened fire before fleeing the scene on foot.
The father and son were rushed to the Port of Spain General Hospital but both succumbed to their injuries shortly after arrival. The incident has raised concerns as it follows a similar attack two weeks earlier in which Joseph Sutton was injured along with 27-year-old Ronaldo Amoroso.
The Trinidad and Tobago police are currently investigating possible links between the two shootings. In the earlier incident, which occurred on March 16, Sutton had survived, leading authorities to probe whether the latest attack may be retaliatory in nature.
As the investigation continues, police have yet to release any information regarding potential suspects or motives behind the tragic event. The community remains on high alert as they mourn the loss of a young father and his infant son.
