Family Claims Food Was Allegedly Poisoned, Questions Police Response Afterwards

A family in south Trinidad is calling for an investigation after alleging that food they consumed was deliberately contaminated with rat poison.

In a statement circulating on social media, the family claimed they became ill after consuming the food and subsequently sought medical treatment at the Princes Town District Health Facility.

According to the family, doctors allegedly informed them that their condition was consistent with exposure to rat poison. The family has not publicly provided medical documentation confirming that account.

They further alleged that a woman known to them was responsible for contaminating the food. That allegation has not been independently verified, and there is currently no publicly available evidence establishing who, if anyone, placed a poisonous substance in the food.

The family said that after receiving medical attention, they went to the Princes Town Police Station seeking to make a report.

They claim an officer told them there was nothing he could do and that they were subsequently sent home. The family has expressed frustration over the alleged response and is calling for authorities to investigate the circumstances surrounding the incident.

They have described what allegedly occurred as “attempted murder” and have appealed publicly for assistance and greater attention to the matter.

At this stage, however, there has been no publicly confirmed finding that an attempted murder occurred, and no arrest or criminal charge connected with the family’s allegations has been independently verified.

The allegations against the woman and the claims concerning the police response remain unproven. Further information from the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service, medical authorities and the accused party would be necessary to establish the circumstances surrounding the incident.
