Elderly man charged after Salisha Ali remains found in Queens.

75-year-old charged in Salisha Ali murder case

Police in Queens have arrested 75-year-old Rupchand Simboo and charged him with murder in connection with the death of 34-year-old Salisha Ali, whose remains were discovered at two locations months apart. Authorities said Simboo is also facing charges of tampering with physical evidence and obstructing governmental administration.

Investigators said the first discovery was made on September 22, 2025, near 149th Avenue and Brookville Boulevard, where sanitation workers found human remains inside a garbage bag. Additional remains were later found on March 5, 2026, at the Jamaica Bay Wildlife Refuge. Officials later identified the remains as Ali’s and ruled her death a homicide.

Reports indicate Ali was last seen alive on July 13, 2025. Authorities say the investigation remains ongoing as detectives continue processing evidence related to the case. Simboo had not been convicted of the murder at the time of reporting, and the charges remain allegations before the court.
