Minister of Finance, Planning and Economic Development Henry Musasizi emphasized the importance of education, purposeful living, and resilience in driving national transformation during the launch of a new memoir in Kampala. The event, held Friday at Hotel Africana, marked the release of The Flow of Purpose: From Streams of Childhood to Building Uganda’s Water Future, written by Dr. Callist Tindimugaya.
Representing former Prime Minister Dr. Ruhakana Rugunda, Musasizi stated that Tindimugaya’s career serves as an example of how discipline and perseverance contribute to societal development. He noted that the government remains committed to investing in education, skills development, and water infrastructure to foster economic growth. Musasizi highlighted the Integrated Water Management and Development Project, which has secured approximately Shs1.3 trillion in investments, as a key initiative for improving water-for-production and irrigation systems.
The memoir chronicles Tindimugaya’s life from his childhood and seminary education to his tenure as the Commissioner for Water Resources Planning and Regulation in the Ministry of Water and Environment. Musasizi credited the author with significant contributions to the water sector, including the establishment of the Water Resources Institute and the successful mobilization of resources from international partners such as the World Bank, Danida, and the Food and Agriculture Organization.
During the launch, Tindimugaya encouraged young Ugandans to remain resilient despite facing difficult circumstances. He shared that his own professional journey was built on faith and perseverance, and he expressed a commitment to supporting education in his home region of Kigezi. Proceeds from the sale of the memoir are designated to support two primary schools, one secondary school, and various churches in Kigezi and Kampala.
Musasizi concluded his remarks by stressing the necessity of protecting Uganda’s natural resources, including wetlands, forests, and lakes, citing their vital role in supporting the nation’s tourism, industry, and general livelihoods.
