The Aufsteirern folk culture festival in Graz concluded its 25th-anniversary celebration with a record-breaking attendance of 275,000 visitors. The event, held over the past weekend, drew approximately 140,000 people on Saturday, with a similar turnout on Sunday, aided by favorable late-summer weather conditions.
The festival featured a variety of music, traditional dance, and culinary offerings throughout the city center. Notable attendees included German actor Uwe Ochsenknecht and musicians Melissa Naschenweng and Andreas Gabalier.
Organizers highlighted the economic impact of the festival, noting that it generates approximately 17 million euros in regional value creation, alongside four million euros in taxes and duties. Data regarding the event’s history indicates that over the past 25 years, approximately 37,400 performers, including musicians, singers, dancers, and Schuhplattler groups, have participated. Demographic data shows that more than 40 percent of the festival’s audience falls within the 18 to 29 age range.
