**TRIKOMO** — A severe storm struck the Trikomo region on Sunday, causing property damage, power outages, and the precautionary evacuation of local beaches.
According to Turkish Cypriot media, the most severe weather was concentrated around the villages of Ayios Iakovos and Arnadi.
The ‘municipality’ of Trikomo stated that strong winds damaged the building belonging to the Ayios Iakovos hunting club. In Arnadi, the storm knocked down electricity poles, which triggered a small fire that was quickly extinguished by fire crews.
During the firefighting response, a main water pipe was damaged, resulting in a temporary disruption to the village’s water supply until repairs were completed.
Authorities evacuated beaches as a safety precaution and advised residents to avoid unnecessary travel. Emergency and municipal crews remained deployed in the affected areas to assess the extent of the damage and restore essential electricity and water services.
The storm occurred as the island experienced widespread heavy rainfall and thunderstorms.
