Corpus Christi Procession Proceeds Peacefully Under Police Escort Following Disrupted Peace March

In Port of Spain, a day after a peace march was dispersed by police, the streets, including Piccadilly Street, were filled with Roman Catholic faithful participating in the annual Corpus Christi procession. The procession, led by Jason Gordon, is a significant religious observance that involves accompanying the Blessed Sacrament.

This procession is a longstanding tradition in the Catholic calendar, observed under police escort as participants moved through sections of Port of Spain. The contrast between the Corpus Christi procession and the peace march that preceded it is striking. The peace march was halted by police, while the religious procession proceeded with police support and traffic management.

Corpus Christi is a celebration observed by Catholics worldwide, honoring the presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharist. The annual procession serves as a public expression of faith, observed in many countries through marches, prayers, and religious ceremonies.

The event attracted a wide range of participants, from clergy and parishioners to members of the public. They joined in prayer as the procession moved through the city, marking a day of shared faith and community spirit.
