A Time for Bravery: Exploring Courage in Uncertain Times

The Australia Institute, a respected independent research organization, has released a new anthology titled “A Time for Bravery”. The publication explores the concept of courage in the face of rising inequality and declining trust in democracy. According to the institute, the anthology delves into what happens when Australia chooses to be brave.

The Australia Institute is known for its work on various issues, including housing, aged care, economics, energy policy, and democratic integrity. The organization’s co-CEO, Leanne Minshull, will be featured in a conversation at Eudlo Hall on August 13, discussing the theme of bravery with Steven Lang of Outspoken Maleny. The event, hosted by Voices of Fisher, aims to explore what bravery looks like in Australia today and how it can be used to shape a better future.

Voices of Fisher, a local community movement, has been promoting political integrity and community-led representation in the Federal electorate of Fisher since its formation in March 2024. The group has had thousands of conversations with local residents, gathering feedback on issues such as the cost of living, climate action, and integrity in politics. Sarah Wright, from Voices of Fisher, stated, “Leanne’s work shows what’s possible when people choose evidence and honesty over easy answers, and we think Fisher locals are ready to have that same courage, in politics, in our communities, and in our own lives.”

The event, “In Conversation: A Time for Bravery”, will take place on August 13 at 5:30 pm at Eudlo Hall. Tickets are available for $25, including a welcome drink and snack, and can be purchased through the Voices of Fisher website. Local independent bookshop, The Little Book Nook, will have copies of the anthology available for purchase on the night.
