In a major boost to its economic credentials, Chhattisgarh has been ranked number one in the CRISIL-NITI Aayog Investment Friendliness Index (IFI) 2026 for the categories of Regulatory Ease and Institutional Environment among 17 large states. Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai hailed the achievement as a national validation of the state’s governance-based policies and transparent administration.
The state scored 8.4 out of 12 in Regulatory Ease, surpassing industrial powerhouses like Rajasthan, Gujarat, Punjab, and Tamil Nadu. This reflects faster approvals for industry permissions, electricity and water connections, and other clearances. In Institutional Environment, Chhattisgarh scored 4.5 out of 6, with evaluators noting high-quality governance, policy stability, and effective grievance redressal.
According to the state government, the investor-friendly measures have attracted investment proposals worth approximately ₹8 lakh crore over the past two-and-a-half years, spanning sectors like semiconductors, artificial intelligence, data centers, textiles, pharmaceuticals, and agro-processing. The state also secured second place in Environment Resilience and third in Resource Availability.
CM Sai stated that the government’s goal is not only to attract investment but also to accelerate job creation, industrial development, and inclusive economic progress.
