Caroni East MP Sends Employee on Leave Pending Police Investigation
A staff member attached to the Caroni East constituency office has been placed on administrative leave following allegations that surfaced on social media, according to Member of Parliament for Caroni East, Dr. Rishad Seecheran.
In a statement, the MP’s office said it became aware of allegations involving one of its employees after they began circulating on Facebook. It said immediate administrative action was taken, with the employee being sent on leave with immediate effect pending an investigation by the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service.
The office stressed that it takes all allegations of misconduct seriously and remains committed to maintaining the highest standards of integrity, professionalism and accountability.
It added that when such matters arise, appropriate action is taken to ensure they are addressed thoroughly, fairly and in accordance with due process.
As the matter is now under police investigation, the MP’s office said it would be inappropriate to comment further at this stage. It also appealed for the public’s understanding and patience while the investigative process is allowed to proceed without prejudice to any party involved.
The statement concluded by saying that further updates would be provided if and when appropriate.
