The oversight of Caribbean Airlines Limited has been officially transferred to Senator Eli Zakour, the Minister of Transport and Civil Aviation. This decision was enacted following an order from President Christine Carla Kangaloo, based on the advice of Prime Minister Kamla Persad-Bissessar. The change took effect on April 2, 2026, and was documented in an Extraordinary issue of the Trinidad and Tobago Gazette.
With this reassignment, Zakour now has full responsibility for Caribbean Airlines, along with his current duties that encompass civil aviation, air services agreements, and various aspects of national transportation, including traffic management and motor vehicle control. This move aims to streamline the management of state-owned enterprises under the Transport Ministry.
In addition to Caribbean Airlines, the Transport Ministry’s oversight extends to several key entities, including the Airports Authority of Trinidad and Tobago and the Public Transport Service Corporation. The reassignment reflects a strategic effort to consolidate aviation-related functions within a single ministry, thereby enhancing coordination and operational efficiency across the sector.
